Day Twenty One

I think I may need to rename this blog "Adventures in Parenting Fail".  Saturday morning swim.  We get into the change room and I realize that Neko has had a poo-splosion (see attached picture).  Oh, I have no wipes with me. We're going into the pool so I do my best with some TP.  Swimming is fun.  Neko had her first submersion.  Two dunks.  The first she loved, the second not so much.  Swimming is over and her outfit is ruined.  Did I bring another change of clothes?  Um, nope.  So Neko heads home in a diaper (at least I had one of those!), socks, and her snowsuit.  Rhea and I had a good laugh as she started to take off her snowsuit when we got home.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Day Twenty

Neko attended her first midwifery conference today (I'm sure it won't be her last).  It was all about decreasing the c-section rate in Ontario.  An interesting day!  It was nice to catch up with friends both new and old.

We were going to check out the Lululemon warehouse sale but after my mom sent a picture of a line up a mile long (I'm probably not kidding!) we hit the road instead.  Came home to a delicious stir fry prepared by Glen. Have I mentioned that he's an awesome (and creative) cook?

Day Nineteen

Drove to Ottawa with Rhea to attend a one day midwifery conference.  Had an amazing dinner at one of our favorite Ottawa restaurants, the Fraser Cafe.  They happily accommodated Rhea's gluten free, vegan diet on the fly. We also had a nice visit with Glen's family before they leave for Myrtle Beach for two months!  Overall, a pretty productive day.

We sat in the window at the restaurant.  Can't really see it in the picture but it was snowing.  I just thought it was really pretty :)  Ottawa has tonnes of snow compared to home.

Day Eighteen (Gone Fishin')

We're gearing up for a busy couple of days.  Neko and I are headed to Ottawa tomorrow to attend a midwifery conference on strategies to decrease the c/section rate.  Then we're back to pack for our trip to the Bahamas (leaving on Monday)!  I am cutting my self a little slack and may not post on the blog until we return on January 30th.  I will play catch up when we get back.

Here is Neko working on her sleeping skills :)
See you all soon!

Day Seventeen

We started our day with the Mother Goose program at the Cobourg Library. Then we had a nice afternoon play date with a retired midwife friend.  Her kids ADORE babies and so Neko was a real hit!

Little Miriam just couldn't get enough of Neko.  Neko had a ball.  Oh, and to top off the great visit I was given a Baby Bullet...now we just have to wait another month or so for solid food!!

Day Sixteen

Lazy day today.  Don't have much to report. :)

Day Fifteen

I actually got a full nights sleep last night with baby content in her own bed (minus a few feeds of course!)  The whole family leisurely rolled out of bed around noon.  It was glorious.  Mind you, we didn't get much else accomplished but I think it was worth it!

Neko and Anna had a staring competition.  Pretty sure that Neko won.  The cats are, by far, her favorite things in the house.  Anna is really good with her and tolerates the odd hair pulling fiasco.  I think she's just happy to have the attention.  I can just tell they will be BFFs!  :)

Day Fourteen

Finally some winter weather over the last couple of days.  The snow actually looks nice.  January without snow just doesn't feel right.

Day Thirteen (SNOW DAY!)

Glen made it to Port Hope before turning around and coming home due to the weather this morning - SNOW DAY! I went for a nice brunch with a friend without baby in tow.  And, I got my FREE Boba Carrier that I won from Twitter. A pretty good Friday the 13th if you ask me!  Glen, on the other hand, had a few small issues.

Whoops.  That's his car in the ditch.  It slid out of the driveway just a little bit.  We got it out only to realize there is a problem with the transmission.  Not so lucky.

Day Twelve

We're been having sleep issues since Christmas.  Neko is in and out of our bed at night and she won't stay asleep in her bassinet even though it is right beside our bed.  I've had a few suggestions this week to let her cry it out and it reminded me of this article: Dangers of "Crying It Out" .  Food for thought.  I just don't know.  Anyone have a king size bed they want to get rid of??? :)

Day Eleven

Today's post is brought to you by Vitamin C...of which I'm taking oodles in hopes of evading this cold that is threatening to take over...

Day Ten

My baby eats BRAINS!

I think she might have eaten mine too!  It has come to my attention that I use "its" and "it's" incorrectly.  I'd like to apologize profusely to all the grammar fiends out there if I may have inadvertently offended you with my errors.

I check out this page: Its "it's"! and aspire to never make that mistake again :)

Day Nine

Monday's are our family day around here.  Today was a pretty good one.  Neko had her first Kindermusic class today at the Early Years Center.  It's basically a class of song and movement to stimulate babies.  She pretty much loved it.  Glen and I had some quiet time at home while Neko had a nap then we headed to Peterborough for some delicious sushi!

Neko had a delicious taste of her rattle while we ate.  She also enjoyed a good chomp on a side plate.  Yum, yum, yum!

Day Eight

It was a quiet and lazy Sunday around here.  Neko woke up really chatty around 8:30.  Glen took her out to the living room so I could sleep in.  Reason #356 why I love him.

I took this picture while Neko was sleeping.  She just happened to smile at the moment I took the picture.  She melts my heart.

Day Seven

We made it through the first week.  Yesterday I doubted my ability to keep up.  Today was a better day!
Neko had her first swim lesson today.  I wanted to take a picture but its really quite impossible to take a picture of a four month old baby swimming without looking absolutely crazy and/or drowning the baby. Phones in the pool is likely discouraged. Then I was going to take a picture of the pool but didn't want to look creepy in front of dozens of parents.  So, no swimming pictures just yet.  I'm going to work that one out at some point.

We took the scenic way home.  I stopped at the retired drive-in and took a few pictures.  I'm really quite sad that we never made it while it was still open.

Day Six

Today's exciting trip was to the grocery store.  The Independent grocer was having a $1 sale.  I didn't know that was happening.  The store was packed full of people trying to get a good deal.  I must say I got a few good deals myself!  Neko smiled at everyone who said hello.  The highlight of the trip was a guy loading his cart with Yop yogurt drinks.  They were $1 each.  The price before discount?  $1.05.  Talk about savings :)

Day Five

A little tired, a little blue, a little grey outside.  I think I'm in need of a good dose of sunshine!

This is a print in Neko's room taken with the Photobooth kaleidoscope function.

Day Four

Ok, I just want to say that I promise not to post 366 pictures of my baby.  She just incidentally ended up in this picture.  A little bit of my fluff stash.  For those unfamiliar, fluff = cloth diapers.  Look at how cute they are!!! Seriously, its a very dangerous and addictive habit.  Its ridiculous that I spend so much time concerned with the bit of fabric that my child poops in.

One minute after I snapped this picture, Neko had a blowout. Perhaps the reason for the grin?  I saved you all from that photo (you're welcome!).

Day Three

Getting back into normal life after a few weeks of chaos.  I put Neko down, on her back, under some blinking lights.  I look up a few minutes later to this...

Hey, wait a second...that's not where I left her.  Note to self: Baby needs more supervision! Won't be long before she's really on the move.

Day Two

Ok, this one is a little bit of a cheat.  I didn't actually take a photo today because I hadn't technically decided to start the blog yet.  Instead I'll share one of my favorite pictures from a few weeks ago.

Just a happy little moment in time.

Here We Go! Day One

I've decided to start a Project 366 photo journal.  One photo a day for all 366 days of 2012 (it's a leap year!) My goal is not to take the best photo but to document a few moments in time of our life over the next year.

January 1, 2012.  We started it off right with a family nap.  We had a very exciting week between Christmas and New Years.  It was nice to have a few minutes of down time.  Lucy was pissed that I woke her up.
